5-Day Costa del Sol Itinerary
The honest, no-tourist-trap route through the Costa del Sol: art and tapas in Málaga, a dramatic cliff-top day in Ronda, white villages, the best beaches, and the secrets most visitors drive straight past.
- 1
Day 1
Málaga — art, tapas & the old port
Start in the capital. Climb the Alcazaba in the morning before the cruise crowds, then graze your way through the city on a tapas tour. Sunset from Gibralfaro.
- 2
Day 2
Nerja & Frigiliana — caves and the prettiest white village
Drive east along the Axarquía. Morning at the Nerja Caves, lunch on the Balcón de Europa, then up to Frigiliana for golden-hour photos.
- 3
Day 3
Ronda — the cliff-top city
A full day inland. The Puente Nuevo, the gorge, Spain's oldest bullring, and a vineyard lunch. Pair with Setenil de las Bodegas if you have the energy.
- 4
Day 4
Marbella & the west — old town charm, then the beach
Marbella's Old Town is genuinely lovely (Puerto Banús, less so). Afternoon on a catamaran or a quiet western beach.
- 5
Day 5
Caminito del Rey — the grand finale walk
End on the famous cliffside boardwalk. Book weeks ahead. Then a relaxed final lunch before flying home from Málaga (15 min from the city).
